Daydreams: A Poem by Harry

When I first looked at you,
I did not think I would love you.

When I first spoke to you,
I did not know what I would get into.
When I first held you,
You held me too.
When you first looked at me,
I looked at you too.
You spoke about what dreams the future held
And rambled on how you could get used to this.
I sat and listened.
You continued on with your daydreams.
The second time I looked at you
I thought I understood you.
The second time I spoke to you
You were nervous to speak.
The second time I held you,
You let me believe you wanted to be held too.
The second time you looked at me,
I looked at you too.
The dreams you once spoke about had disintegrated.
You replaced them with words I did not understand.
I sat and listened.
You continued on with your daydreams.
The third time I looked at you,
You looked at me too.
The third time I spoke to you,
You did not speak to me too.
The third time I tried to hold you,
You did not let me hold you.
When you did not look at me,
I searched for you.
There were no more words or dreams left to speak.
Although our tongues did not move, we still understood.
With my heart clenched in your fist, you squeezed it like a stress ball.
And just before you left, you popped it by continuing on with your daydreams.
